We have spent ample time learning about writing conventions by studying the following in our own Personal Narrative writing:

- paragraphs
- complex and varied sentence structure.
We have also talked about writing craft, and the use of the following:
- show not tell
- dialogue
- setting
- action
- internal thinking/feeling
- elaboration
- descriptive language.
As a writer, it is important to notice the things we do well, and also to reflect on the things we can improve upon. Please take a moment to review your Personal Narrative, reflect on your peer editing experience yesterday, and make an ACTION PLAN for your future writing. Please choose at

I think I need to work on paragraphs and action in my writing because, I really think it will make my writing a whole lot better and exciting!
I could improve on show not tell. 1 example is that I said the chcolate was amazing, when I could of said something better, and more interesting to say.
I could also improve on paragraphs because in 1 area I kept thinking thoughts and I never ever went to another paragraph.
A GREAT book to read is Fablehaven.
I think I need to work on show-not-tell when I’m writing. When I write I just go on and say the espression in stead of feeling and then telling it. One way I could practice is I can write sentences that have show-not-tell in it!!
I also think I could work on dialogue when I write. When I write I need to use more dialogue because it will make the story entertaining. Another way for me to practice is when I finish my writing I need to check over it and add more dialogue!
As a writer one writing convection for me to work on would probably be comas. One way that could help me wright and insert commas in my writing is to look in my word study folder and look a my notes over commas.
As a writer one craft I would like to work on is elaboration. One out many ways i could use more elaboration is to read over my story then add more writers craft in the story to expand my sentences and paragraphs.
CONVENTION
I need to improve paragraphs because I didn't put it in my story enough.I can inprove paragraphs by being more careful at revising.
CRAFT
I need to improve dialogue bcecause I only put it in my story twice. I can improve dialogue by editing and looking at other people's work.
The craft I chose for this blog is show not tell because in the sentences that I try to use show not tell it does not turn out good so I will try to think harder and pay ettention to books. My convention is to punctuate dialogue better because I sometimes get it wrong unlike other conventions.
In my writing, I think I need to improve in making more paragraphs and work on using descriptive language more than I used to, so I can show people who read my writing that a new character is being introduced(paragraphs), or so people who read my writing can understand it in a deeper, more exiting way than if I said," I'm sad." Or " I'm scared." So I am going to try to improve in these areas, in these way listed below...
For making more paragraphs I will go over my writing and make a paragraph every time I see dialogue,or a new character is introduced. And for using more descriptive language I will try to think of creative ideas to make people enjoy my writing better.

My peer told me I needed to work on show- not-tell in certin places. I also need to REALLY work on paragraphs. I need to work on show-not-tell because,it will make people want to read my storys more and it will make my storys sound better. I need to work on paragraphs because,it will make it easyer to read. I will try to make my show-not-tell better by,reading other storys and looking at their show- not-tell and try to remember theirs when I am writing a story. I will to do paragraps more by,thiking in my head when I type,"When a new character, enters when sombody is talkking, when there is a setting."
I am going to try to improve in show not tell because I think that I don't do very much show not tell and my chal said that I needed to put more show not tell. I am going to do this by revising and editing to put at the VERY least 3 more show not tell sentences or thoughts in what ever I am writing. I will also try to improve in putting more dialogue because I think that adding dialogue really brings a story to life. Dialogue makes the story stand out and really makes your writing a fabulous piece of work and something of which to be proud. I will put more dilague in my writing by double cheaking that I have people or things talking in my story.
In my personal narrative I noticed some mistakes in making paragraphs and realized I needed to use more elaboration in my story. I want to get better at paragraphs because I looked in my writing and found some places I should have done paragraphs. My action plan is to pay more attention to see if I need to make a new paragraph and make paragraphs a habit. Also, I should make a new paragraph when someone new is talking, or when a new thought is in the story. Why I want to get better at elaboration is that my writing needs more detail. My action plan is to spend more time on the details of the story and revise and edit my well (you always should revise or edit well.)
A convention that I need to work on is to have better (and maybe even more exiting) end punctuation. My action plan for that is to play around with it more rather than trying just one out. A craft I can work on is elaboration. From now on, I'm going to study it by reading and seeing how other other writers use it. I'm also going to take time to think about it instead of rushing to get my story done.
I need to work on dialogue punctuation because a lot of times I don't put the right punctuation in the right spot or just leave it out alltogether. I plan to put this into action by going back and reading my work again and again and paying special attention to my punctuations. I also need to work on descriptive language because I really do not describe situations using enough details. I plan to do this by really getting into the details of the story.
Convention
I need to work on complex sentences because I only use the regular sentences and it gets boring to the reader if you just have regular sentences. How I plan to do this is to get an idea and write some of them down every day and practice them often.
Craft
I need to work on show not tell because the reader can visualize what you are trying to tell them and it can paint a picture in their head and they can understand what the story is about better. How I plan to do this is to practice by taking a small moment and really explaining what it looked like.
I think that I should work on paragraphs because I do not have enough detail and it looks like to many paragraphs. So I can make a discussion with not just talking and some thinking else. I also want to work on show not tell because I usually put just a word that describes the whole thing even though I could tell what I was doing, not sad because you could say tears went down her check.
When I write I have trouble using writing conventions and crafts. These are the crafts and conventions that I have trouble using. The convention that I have trouble with using in my writing is correct end punctuation and varied sentences. I can improve on these conventions by editing and revising very closely and change my punctuation and sentences before I publish or print my writing. A writing craft that I have trouble on is internal thinking. I usually don't the reader what the character is thinking in their head. I can improve on this craft by practice writing what the character in the story is thinking in their minds/head. I will continue trying to improve these writing crafts and conventions.
I really need to work on action in writers craft. I think I can do this by maybe thinking of the action parts in the small moment, but I am not saying that this should be all I think about, I should even it out among all of the writers' craft. I need to improve on this because I usually think about the things that are harder for me to understand so I refuse to do the things that I understand so I can get better at the things that I don't understand. Now I know that the things I am good at are sometimes being left out.
The writing convention is harder but I think it would be ellipses probably because I always would like a reader to be left wondering and a pause is fun because I like to think about my book. Why I need to improve is because I like to take my experience in a book and use what I like and write a small moment (like we did) and put it on a piece of paper. Most people know I like Nancy Drew and I think a mysterious small moment is a great way to be able to use ellipses. I plan to do it by writing a mystery story and making a lot of ellipses.
In my Personal Narrative, I need to add more ellipses in my sentences to describe my story better and to stretch it out. I will try to write with more of these the next time I write a paper.
Also in my writing craft, I need to add more dialogue because it tells about what the characters are saying and what is going on in the story. It will make my writing more interesting. I will try to descibe things more and use more dialogue.
My Personal Narrative has quite a few mistakes, but the two I saw the most is dialoge punctation and the setting. A few things that can help me to improve is to look at my notes from the mini-lessons and look at the posters in the classroom. I can also look over my Personal Narrative and correct my mistakes.
I need to work on show not tell. I think I tell the reader the emotion. I can emprove by discribing how they feel.
I also need to work on paragraphs. I sometimes don't start a new paragraph when a new person is talking. I can emprove by getting it in my head by reviewing my notes.
End Punctuation
I think I should work on end punctuation with making my sentences come alive and be enthusiastic.
Descriptive Language
I think I should work on my descriptive language and really describe what is going on and happening around me at that time.
My Plan
My plan is to look over my punctuation every time I write a piece to see if I could make my sentences come alive an better and my plan for writing descriptive language is to look over my sentences and see if I could add some more descriptive words to my sentences.
I think I should work on giving detail and telling all the facts to the reader. I think so because I don't want to confuse the reader and to have lots of detail. My plan of ACTION is to when I write my story I will make sure to re-read and re-check my work and give all the info the reader needs.
I think I need to improve on diolague puntuation because, I want the readers to understant people talking in my stories. I plan to do this by always remembering to puntuate all my writing.
I also think I need to improve on my elabaration such as my show not tell. I want my stories be more exiting with show not tell. I plan do this by always remember this by thinking "I want to make my stories exiting with show not tell."
Those are thins I want to improve on.
One convention that I would like to improve on is ellipses.
One reason why is because I'm not really used to doing them and some times I forget.
My action plan is to start rembering and writing them when it is an action part or pause.

I choose to improve on dialouge, because On the test I missed a few questions, I also want to improve on descriptive language, because I want to learn how to write descriptive language. I plan to work on these and tomake a goal at the end of the year and month.
I think i should work on diologue beacause i dont usally use it. When i was in third grade i did not know what it meant and i did not use it at all but i think i need to use it a lot more.
I need to work on my internal thinking and when I do dialogue I need to work on when you enter and like space. I think a way to improve on this is I can practice at home by writing mini stories and doing lots of dialogue in them and also look over my mistakes in my Personal Narritive and see what I did wrong on it, and also count how many times I used internal thinking.
I need to work on dialogue. So when I am writing a story I what happened at that moment and think about who was talking, and what they were saying. I am also not the best at using show not tell. So when I am writing a story to think. ‘’Can I use a different word insted of its acuel name.’’ Here is an example. Instead of candy use sweet glory! Instead of cookie use sweet crunch!
The ones I need to work on are paragraphs and descriptive language. The way I can get better and improve on is by mostly focusing on those two and focusing on the others bust most of all paragraphs and descriptive language. The reason why is because so I can improve on my writing.
I think I need to work on commas. In my writing, I would maybe put a period instead of a comma to make two complete sentences. Or in some lists I make, sometimes I tend to put commas in the wrong places. My plan to change that is to look over my notes a few times while I am doing my homework, do strategies that Ms. S puts up around the room, and so on. Another thing I can improve in is show not tell. I think that because most of the time I kind of say what the emotion is instead of showing it. A way I can improve is Look at Ms. S' strategies all over the room, write more of my stories and try show not tell, get friends to study with me and so on.
