Dear Readers,
As a voracious reader, I love discussing books with
other lovers of literature. I have joined book clubs, emailed with
friends, and sat down over many meals where the conversation turned to
what everyone was reading. Books are a part of my life.
However,
I have noticed I have certain friends who never fail to disappoint me
with their EXCELLENT recommendations. I finally figured out why they are
so great at this life skill ...
When recommending a book to me,
they give a concise, precise summary of the book. Their summary consist
of the main characters, the setting, and the problem and solution,
otherwise known as, the plot. They use LITERARY ELEMENTS to explain what
the book is about!
I would like for you to write a short summary about the fiction book you are reading at home, including characters, setting, and the plot (problem/solution). Assume I have not read the book and be sure to edit your work.
Here is an example from Ida B.
Ida B is
about a young girl, who lives with her mom and dad on a farm and is
home schooled after an unpleasant experience at school. She lives a
happy life, using her imagination to play on the farm and with her pets.
Sadly, her mother gets cancer and Ida B's life is turned upside down
and she is heart-broken. She must return to school and she makes a
decision to change into a person with a cold, hard heart.

More drama comes in when she just toilet papered MacKenzie,also known as the most popular person in the grade and Nikki's arch- enemy. Nikki's also the advice column in the school news paper! Can any more drama get in Nikki's life?

I am reading the 39 Clues The Maze of Bones. The book is about Amy and Dan Cahill. After their beloved grandmother Grace dies a chosen few are lead into a special room where the will is read. The will says they can either take 2 million dollars or go on a clue hunt that could make them very powerful. The take the challenge, and find the first clue about Ben Franklin. The clue hunt takes them all the way from Boston to Paris.Amy and Dan are wondering when the adventure will be over but the truth is it has just begun.

The book I am reading is called War Heroes Voices from Iraq by Allan Zullo. In this book each chapter is a different story about soldiers who fought in Iraq. For example, one of them is about a marine scout sniper who sees five wounded soldiers in the strret and he risks his own life to go save the wounded men.
In my book Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Greg is a middle schooler and he hates it! He honestly doesn't know what it was invented for! In book 5, the book I am currently on, Greg is having friendship problems. He and his best friend Rowley got in a fight over the summer and Rowley already has new friends but Greg doesn't. Over the course of this hilarious series Greg has to learn al to of life lessons! One of them being not to follow his older brother Rodrick. I think this is a good book about modern day!

the book i'm reading is Big Nate goes For Broke. It's about a kid named Nate Wright and his school is P.S. 38. Nate's school loses to Jefferson every time they play agents Jefferson. The math geeks are geekier, the athletes are more athletic. But P.S. 38 FINALLY finds a way to beat them. Not math, or not athletics, but CREATIVITY!! In turns out that P.S. 38 is better! In my book The Mark of Athena it is up to Annabeth, Percy & their friends to find a magical map that will help them find and save their friend Nico. Along their journey, the group is being chased by Roman demigods. Additionally Annabeth cannot escape the feeling that her close friend Percy has changed and is attached to Roman ways. This creates a fear that Percy might not need Annabeth as a friend anymore.

I am not reading a fiction book right now, but I can tell you about what non-fiction book I am reading. I am reading Linspired all about Jeremy Lin.He grew up in China in the late 1970's. He always dreamed of being a pro basketball player.I just started the book so I don't know what the plot is yet, but I can't wait to find out.

When she is in the hospital, not feeling well, or is scared, she sees zebras and they take her to Africa with them! They help her with lots of things like the talent show. She thinks she is imagining them, but she isn't. The cool thing is she is the only one who can see them!

In my book called The Big East Conference it is about the sport, the mascots and the star players.Here is a bit of the story, One day a cincinati cheerleader yelded at a football player and said lets go beara-cat and then the crowd stated chanting lets go beara-cat!!!!! A couple weeks later Cincinati got a new mascot and it is bearcats.
