Dear Ms. Sikes My favorite poem was "The Falling Star"I liked this poem because of how it expressed her emotions with the way she told the poem, and how she can make it sound so majestic and beautiful.
1."The Falling Star" is about a star that is falling, like a wishing star. But you only have one oppurtunity and you should no take advantage of those things.
"If~" is about if you can ocomplish these things you will become you.
My favorite is "If~" because you need to be who you are, not somebody else
"If~" means a lot to me because it encourages me to push through the hard times.
"The Falling Star doesn't mean much to me because I've never seen a shooting star.
I like "If~" better because I can connect with it.
Dear Ms. Sikes,
I choose "If-" for my favorite poem because I like the example it sets to other kids. To me I've really changed after hearing that story. If you set an example to the younger kids, and help your friends if they get hurt, or if your friend is getting bullyed, and they can't stand up for themselfs you sould sep in there and help them
I think"If" is more important to me.
I can make a connection to the poem because I try to be that kind of person or people they were talking about.
I like "If's" rhyme really well.
I like"Choosing Shoes" more because I personally like new shoes and there are a lit of different kinds of shoes to choose from. But in"Life Doesn't Frighten Me" it says that nothing scares him and every one wishes that they weren't scared of anything. I think that The winner is"Choosing Shoes" because (Well I actually told you why but) I really love NEW SHOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Ms. Sikes,
I liked "The Falling Star" better because the rhyming didn't repeat like the other one. In my opinion I just like no repeats. It just seems like flow when there is different words for rhyming.
FLOW
"If" because if you want to have friends you have to have good character. It is hard to get good character and keep it. The personal connection I can make is, one day at Hutchison, my school in Memphis, I was playing with one of my best friends.A girl who had known her for a really long time came along and told me I couldn't play with her. Right then and there I realize what exactly good character was. The poet's craft I really enjoyed in this poem is the rhyming again because I have always loved rhyming words.
I like if because it rhymes every other line and I like the theme or moral. I agree that living your life like the poem If say to you will become a better person.
I chose "The Falling Star" because of the way it rhymes, the writer's craft, and because of how it is worded. I like the way it rhymes because it is exact rhymes. For example, "sky" and "by" those are exact rhymes. I like the writer's craft because they say like the falling star is a really magical thing. I like the way it is worded because of one sentence in the poem. It says, "Too burning and too hot to hold, too lovely to be bought or sold."
"The Falling Star" has a nice meaning to it. It says that a lot of things are lovely and nice but we don't notice it. I like it because I have had a lot of things in life that I don't notice as I should. I chose "The Falling Star" because I like how it rhymes.
1.I think "If~" is about if this happens you should do something about it not try to ignore it.
2. I think "Castle of Fire" is about a knight who sets of to find a girl who is trapped in a castle.
3.I like "Castle of Fire" because I really like fairy tales, it tells a story, and it rhymes.
1. I think it`s cool how in "The Falling Star" the author states that you need to see the details in life to see the beauty in things.
2. I think in "If-" the author is referring to Jesus. But since nobody is perfect, see IF you can do it .
3. I like "If-" because how the author says you try to be as much like Jesus as you can, even though nobody can imitate him perfectly.
"If-" is about what would happen if you did somthings in life."The Falling Star" is about a shooting star. I've always wanted see one but I never have. The winner is "The Falling Star" because I think shooting stars are cool also I like its style.
I chose "The Falling star" because I liked the way it rhymed. I also like how it is summerized (because it is a short poem) it says a lot in the short poem. I also chose this one because I liked the way it is said/the order of the words. I would like "The Falling Star" to win this round.
Dear Ms Sikes,
1. “The Falling Star” means less to me because it is not an example of something you would seem every day. You would probably only see it a few times in your life. I do not have a connection with it because I have never seen something like it before. I don’t think that the poet put as much time into the poem because it is short.
2. “If” means more to me because it makes more sense to me. It has more explanations so the reader understands the poet’s feelings better. I have a connection to this poem because it relates to dreams, and I like to dream and imagine things during my free time. I think the poet put more time into this poem because it is longer than the other poem.
3. I like “If” more because it makes more sense to me because of the explanations, and it also has a better meaning to me. Also it makes me feel like someone else understands me.
Your Student,

I think the poem, “The Falling Star” is more meaningful then the poem, “If~”. I think it is more meaningful because it tells a story that more people can relate to. I can relate to “The Falling Star” more then I can relate to the poem “If~” (Ex:“The Falling Star”> “If~”). I can relate to “The Falling Star” because if I ever do see a shooting star I would make a wish, and would hope it would come true. I can’t relate to “If~” as well as I can relate to “The Falling Star”. I also like hoe it tells a better story (to me) then “If~”.
Dear Ms.Sikes,
I like "The Falling Star" because ones I saw a flying star (falling star) when I was on a camp out. It also has good rimes and word choice.
I liked "If" because it related to my life because I have talks with my dad sometimes about how to be a gentleman and take responsibility. I liked the way the poem went a lot and how it connected to me.
Ms. Sikes,
The poem I chose after reading both poems twice was"If" the connection I can make is when I'm thing to much and all that flows through my mind is- if I do this, if I don't do this! The writers or poets craft I chose that I like was word phrasing I choose this because I like that the title is one of the only words they use besides IF I DO THIS!

"The Falling Star" is my favorite poem because it does an amazing job of explaining how the star went by to fast, and how it was such a beautiful sight. I also chose "The Falling Star" because I am fascinated in stars and space.
I like "If~" I really like this poem because it is about a father talking to a son about life. My dad does that a lot. I makes me want to be the kind of man this poem describes.
Dear Ms. Sikes,
I choose "The Falling Star" because I like how it is short, sweet, and to the point. I also like how it says "Blinding the north as it went by". I also have a connection because once I saw a shooting star at the beach.
I like "The Falling Star" Because It is so detailed and the way it is written.

Dear Ms. Sikes,
I like "If~" better because the meaning really speaks to me. Also my brother had to memorize it so I have heard it many times. I also like how it repeats the title a lot. I vote for "If~" to move on in the tournament.
Dear Ms. Sikes
I chose the "Falling Star" because it is a very short and nice poem.
Dear Ms. Sikes,
1. "The Falling Star" meaning is more important to me because if you saw something special and unique you want to keep it but you shouldn't so other people could see this wonderful shooting star.
2. I can connect to the poem "The Falling Star" because once I saw a really beautiful and unique shooting star when it was at night and I was on my back porch.
3. " The Falling Star" I like how the writer rhyme's and how he described the shooting star. I love the word choice in sentence 3!
Dear Ms.Sikes,
"The Falling Star" means more to me because of how much nature means to me ,and that's a perfect example.
I also like the way the writer explains the beauty of the star.
1) I like If~ more because of the story being told. Basically the sentences are like If... then it says something. If~ is my second favorite poem yet.
