I like “Mother to son” better because I think it tell a good lesson about life, and I like its metaphors. That’s some times what my life feels like (But not very often). I also think it has good word choice and rhymes.
I don't have a personal favorite, but if I had to choose I would choose "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because I like how the person in the poem is brave. I have been in tough situations before and I have not always been brave, but I do know that being scared doesn't help the situation in any way. I like "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because the poet put a lot of rhyming in it.
Dear Ms. Sikes,
“Mother to Son” is more important to me because it is an example of me and my mom sitting down to have a talk.
I can make a connection to this and it is that whenever I get in trouble I and my mom have a talk like this.
I think “Mother to Son” was written better because it shows a life lesson.

1. I like "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because I think it has better poets craft and my personal connection is that I think I once saw a movie with a part in it about this concept. It is more important to me because I have used it before whon i have been bullied.
1. I like "Mother to Son" because of how instead of the author using internal thinking he is using dialuage.
2. I like "Life Doesn`t Frighten Me" because of how she is herself and not what someone else wants her to be.
3. I choose "Life Doesn`t Frighten Me" because of the repetition.
I chose "Mother to Son" because it's about how life isn't perfect, there are bumps in the road and places you want to give up, but you have to keep on trying no matter what. You just have to keep on climbing up the long staircase of life. I also chose it because it talks about the mother's life, and how her's was messed up, so she is warning her son about that.
"Mother to Son" because it is telling about life and how to deal with it. I can connect to this poem is, when I get to a hard point in my life I always go to my mom for help and I feel like she is kinda like the mother in this poem. The poet's craft
I like most in this poem is the repetition because I love rhyming words and I think repetition and rhyming words go hand and hand.
I like both of them but my favorite is "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because GOD is always with you. That is what it means in the story, life doesn't frighten me because GOD is always with me. I also like "Mother To Son" but it is not as incouraging as the other.
I chose "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because I like the repetition. I also liked how the poem rhymes a little and doesn't rhyme a little. Also how the poem says this one line a lot in different ways. That is what I like.
The poem, “Life Doesn’t Frighten Me” is more meaningful to me then the poem, “Mother to Son”. It is more meaningful to me because I have a personal connection with it. With the poem, “Mother to Son” I feel like a lot of people have the connection that I have to the poem. My connection to “Life Doesn’t Frighten Me” is I was asleep and I had a dream. In that dream something bad happened to other people but I was safe. On the news the next day they were talking about how Iran was building a bad weapon and was going to use it on the U.S.A. I couldn’t go to bed the next night and I told my mom what happened. She said, “Well, what if something bad happens to us? If something bad does happen to us God wanted it to. You can’t enjoy life when you worry about something you can’t control.” I have looked back on that ever since.
I pick "Life Doesn't frighten me"
I can make a connection to the poem because I try for life not to frighten me. Not just the little stuff also the big stuff like bullies and clowns.
I really like how the story is told.
Dear Ms. Sikes, Iliked "Life Doesn't Frighten Me At All" because it gives the girl who is saying it impowermnt. I like how the girl who is saying it feels prowd of herself for not being afraid of anything, and even if she was she knows that she can overcome it.
Dear Ms. Sikes,
I like "Mother to Son" best because of the idea. The time that he lived in was hard so it acutally made sense. Not like a random choice.
Dear Ms.Sikes,
The poem I picked was "Mother to Son". I picked this poem because it sets a good example to the kids. My connection to this poem is that on the fist day of school I was nervous nobody would like my hair, and my mom said if someone doesn't like your hair. There is someone who does but you don't know it. AC was the first one to say something and today we are best friends.

I like"Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because it says that this person is not afraid of anything and thats impossible because theres always something that your afraid of. I like"Mother To Son" because life is like a never ending mountain and you keep climbing every day. I think that the winner is"Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because"Mother To Son" has really bad grammar.
I like "Mother to Son" because it always has touched my heart from the first time I read it! I just love the line, "Son, I'll tell you, life ain't been no crystal stair for me," that is just awesome!
Dear Ms. Sikes,
I choose "Mother to Son" because I like the word choice. I also like it because means more to me, like how it is explaining about life. I also choose it because I like how it says the things that actually explain things, like "It's no crystal stair".
Dear Ms.Sikes,
"Mother to Son" should move to the next round because of how much you can relate to it. It talks about how life will be easy and hard at the same time but you keep going. I also like the metaphor "Life ain't no Crystal Stair" and how the mother uses it a lot, but my favorite part is the image of the mother talking to her son, and how she is telling him a life lesson.
Dear Ms. Sikes,
I like the poem Mother to Son more than Life Doesn’t Frighten me because I like the message and the way it’s written. The over all message of the poem Mother to Son is when life gets though keep trying and don’t give up. Connect to this poem from when I had a baseball game and we were losing by four, but we kept trying and won the game. Another reason I liked the poem Mother to Son is how he compared an easy life to a nice crystal stairway and a hard life to an old beat up stairway. I think you could use this message to life I not always easy but keep on trying because there’s nothing you can do sometimes.
Dear Ms. Sikes,
The meaning of "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" is more important to me because it teaches me to have courage. Sometimes when I go to bed at night and I hear a noise, I think to myself, that doesn't frighten me. I enjoy " Life Doesn't Frighten Me" more because I like how the poet rhymed in the poem.
"Life Doesn't Frighten Me" means more to me because It helps me be brave and encourages me.
I can connect with "Mother to Son" because I know my brother was like that!!!
I like "Mother to Son" better because it has more meaning and I like when it says, "life ain't been no crystal stair."

"Mother to Son" is about a mother who is telling her son that life isn't always a walk in the park. "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" is about a person who is not scared of anything that most people would be scared of. The winners "Life doesn't Frieghten Me" because I'm usally not scared of these tings.
Dear Ms Sikes,
I like "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" better because it is a poem about a person that has a lot of courage.I also like how it repeats the title a lot in the poem.I vote for this poem to move on in the tournament.
I like "Mother To Son" because of the words and the metaphors
I like Mother to Son because it is funny and touching at the same time.
I like "Mother to Son" because I like the way that it explains that life hasn't been easy for the mother, but the son has a chance to have an easy relaxed life that he can enjoy.
