The first poem, The Eagle, is about an eagle who is clasping onto a crag and he suddenly falls.

The second poem, Casey at the Bat, is about a boy who is at bat, he gets two strikes, and he struck out.

I vote for The Eagle because I like the line breaks and the rhyming.

The first poem, The Eagle is about gods creations, with a ryhming sense to it to tell you about the mighty eagle's flight.

The second poem, Casey at the Bat is about the team failing when the mighty Casey steps up to the plate and fails like the rest of his team

I chose Casey at the bat to win this round.

I thought the best poem i thought was Casey at the bat i liked it because it had more to it than the eagle and i thought it made more sence.

In the first poem, The Eagle, describes the weird movements of eagle. Casey at the Bat is about how Casey's team makes an amazing comeback, but he strikes out.
I like The Eagle because Casey at the Bat was really long, so it kinda didn't fit in with a poem.

The Eagle, the first poem, is about an eagle sitting on a branch then falls.

The second poem, Casey at the Bat, is about a guy playing baseball and everyone is depending on him, but he strikes out.

Out of these too poems I have to choose The Eagle as my favorite. I chose this, because I like and understand why the author moved the other set of words down. He/ she did it because they were starting to rhyme differently. Another reason why I chose The Eagle was because it had good similes and description but the description could have been a little better.

Some reasons why I didn’t choose Casey at the Bat is because, I don’t like some of the word selection the author wrote like, he died at second. It sounds too sorrow. It seems to me more like a story than a poem, but if the author rhymed a little more I think it would have sounded a little more like a poem. Although, I do enjoy the show not tell, for example, Flynn huggin’ third base. In, Casey at the bat, things are a little too violent for example, someone yelled “Kill the umpire”.

The first poem, The Eagle, is describing an Eagle in a different view and by saying “He claps the crag with his crooked hands.” That means that he has talons and he is holding on to a branch.
The second poem, Casey at the Bat, is about a man named Casey who is up to bat and the score is two to four and Casey has to strike a home for his team to win.
The poem I liked best was The Eagle because it was short and described “the eagle” in a different view of mind. I also liked that you had to think about the poem and what it ment.

The Eagle is about an eagle that is alone sitting on a mountain top watching the ocean go up on the shore.

Casey At The Bat is about a boy named Casey who plays baseball. He plays for Mudville's baseball team. One game he strikes out and there is no joy for the team.

I liked The eagle more because it is more interesting. That reason is because casey at the bat is just about a boy who plays baseballs and the eagle is about an eagle that is representing our country. So I pick The eagle.

The first poem I read was The Eagle, It's about a eagle that's doing what it is meant to do in nature.
The second poem I read was Casey at the Bat, It's about a boy that's over confident and strikes out.
I vote Casey at the Bat because it a was long poem ,it rhymes, and it has baseball in it.

Today we read Casey at Bat, and The Eagle. When I read Casey at Bat I think it was about Casey trying to hit a ball but it never happened. On The Eagle it was about a eagle that fell or I think died but it was kind of hard to understand. But my favorite was The Eagle because I thought it was more detailed.

Casey at the Bat was about a boy at a baseball game. Her team was loosing by 2 points. She was at bat and struck out (I think she mean’t to strike out).

The Eagle is explaining what an eagle does and how gracefully they do it.

I chose The Eagle because of its word choice and rhyme. I like how the poem is telling the deep meaning of an eagle. The only similie I saw was “like a thunderbolt he falls” but I still think it is a good one.

the eagle was about thinking you could win, or being confident that you will win, but then you lose.

casey at bat was about everybody is thinking that casey is so good, he's not going to strike out, and then simalar to the eagle he strikes out.

I like the eagle, because I think it was written a lot better.

The first poem I read was Casey at the Bat.It was about the greatest hitter striking out. I think the message is that anyone can strike out. The second poem I read was The Eagle. It was about an eagle living on the mountain tops looking into the sea. I chose The Eagle because it is very descriptive with great adjectives.

The Eagle= The Eagle is about a mighty, strong eagle who spreads his wings and flies boldly.

Casey at the Bat= Casey at the Bat is about a guy named Casey and he was at the batter. It was all on him because one guy was at base one, and one guy was at base two. So if he would of made the hit they would of gotten three points. He did not make it though!

Personaly I liked Casey at the Bat better even though it had a bad ending.I liked it better because it had a lot of suspense in it and it had it was also a great mini story.

I interpreted that the first poem The Eagle was about the author describing an Eagle.
I interpreted that the seconed poem Chasing at the Bat, was about a boy describing how he felt when he was at bat.
My favorite poem is Chasing the Bat because I think it had very good wording and had great descriptive language.

The meaning of Casey at Bat is don’t always be so sure.

The meaning of The Eagle is how an eagle is free in his lonely majestic land.

My vote goes to Casey at Bat because of the rhyming. I think it is very hard to rhyme after rhyme after rhyme but the poet did it very well. I also like this poem because it’s written like a story. I think the story builds like a “plot mountain.” But the thing that really made me like it was the suspense.

Casey at the Bat did not make sense to me.

The Eagle told me what it was doing.

I choose The Eagle because it made more sense to me.

Casey's at Bat is about a person who one time sees somebody hitting a baseball and really wishes he could get a hit at it. So his turn comes, he says,"the first one he won't swing at it", same with the next one, and before you knew, he had struck out.

The Eagle is about an eagle that is on a huge mountain top and is about to go down it so he scoops up to the edge and before you knew it, the eagle was gliding through the air.

I liked Casey's at bat a little better because I thought it had a lot better details. Another reason I liked it better is that I thought it made more sense and better "SHOW NOT TELL".

Jackson

The first poem, The Eagle, is about an eagle is trying to hard to do something, but he is not trying hard enough an he falls.

The second poem, Casey at the Bat, is about the boy Casey is playing in his baseball game, and the game is two to four and Casey is up to bat; then Casey tries to hit the ball but he is struck out.

I chose Casey at the Bat because I liked the rhyming and the word choice. I liked the rhyming because it makes the poem more easy to understand, and I liked the word choice because it makes the poem more fun.

I also liked the ability to visualize and I had a personal connection. I liked the ability to visualize because I had a great picture in my mind, and my personal was I play softball and I know what it is like. :) ;)

The first poem,"Te Eagle", is about describing the majestic form of the eagle and its great solitude honor over our country.

The second poem,"Casey at the Bat", is about a boy who is a great figure in town being a great baseball player and a good christian that everyone looks up to.

I choose,"The Eagle", because I like the metaphoric
term Lord Tennyson used to describe the eagle.

Casey at the Bat is about a little boy named Casey and he is at the bat trying to hit the ball as thousands of people are watching him.

The Eagle is about an eagle soring in the sky with his crooked hands, close to the sun and lonley lands.

I chose Casey at the Bat because it was very descriptive and more detailed, to make it longer.

The first poem,The eagle, was mainly about where the eagle lives.

The other poem,Casey at bat, was about how the team was coming back and the bases are filling up and then Casey strikes out.

I like The Eagle better because of the rhyming, but I really don't like eather of the poems endings.

The Eagle is about an eagle living. The eagle is perched up on a rock. He is close to the sun. He is probably in a habitat where there aren't any human houses or buildings because it says it is lonely lands. He is also close to the sea because it talks about the sea in the poem. This poem was very peaceful.

Casey at the Bat is about two baseball teams playing in a tight baseball game. Casey thought he wouldn't get to bat again in the rest of the game. There were two outs. Casey got to bat. The fans expected Casey to get a good hit. He was then at bat. Strike one, strike two, and....... strike three. He broke the hearts of the Mudville fans. This was a very intense poem. In this poem there were two rhymes and then two different rhymes.

I choose Casey at the Bat. I chose it because I liked its format, I like baseball, it was very intense, and it told a good story inside of a rhyming poem. The Eagle was very peaceful, but I went for the intense poem, Casey at Bat.

The second poem, Casey At The Bat, is about baseball and a player named Casey.

I like Casey At Bat because I play softball and it had more action.

The first poem, The Eagle, is about an eagle watching over the Earth, waiting to swoop down over the sea.

The second poem, Casey at the Bat, is about a boy named Casey who is at his baseball game and he sadly strikes out.

I chose the poem, The Eagle, because it had better punctuation; I didn't choose Casey at the Bat, because it was really long like a short story. But, I also really liked The Eagle because you had to read it multiple times to understand it.

The first poem was called The Eagle it was about a eagle who is grab something and he does not work hard enough to carry it so he falls below him.

The second poem is about a baseball player who has a lot of fans and gets two strikes witch he is calm about but at the last throw he is so angry that he hits a huge hit.

I vote for The Eagle poem because the way it says words I had never thought a them that way and its like a whole new meaning to me.

The first poem I read was about an eagle who is flying, then falls. The second poem I read was Casey at the Bat. It was about a guy who played baseball and struck out.
I liked The Eagle best because I liked the descriptive language like the wrinkled sea and the mountain walls. Casey at the Bat did have descriptive language in it too, but I still like The Eagle better.

The Eagle is about an eagle being described from a different prespective.
Casey at the Bat was about a boy named Casey that is amazing at baseball and strikes out.
I vote for Casey at the bat because it rhymes and it reminds me of David and Golioth.

The Eagle is about an eagle overlooking his beautiful surroundings and suddenly taking advantage of his freedom to soar.

Casey at the Bat was about a boy who finally got his turn to bat and while waiting for the perfect pitch... struck out!

I liked Casey at the Bat because I liked the rhyming and the meaning. The rhyming reminds me of the poem The Night Before Christms.

The Eagle is about an eagle who stands proudly watching over what he sees and then falls, I think the meaning is to not look at yourself as the greatest, because as you think that you aren't thinking about what you are doing.( Like falling.)

Casey at the Bat is about a bad baseball team who isn't doing so well until one of the best players gets up to bat. Some people left, and some people stayed hoping that Casey would hit 'em home. He then ended up with two strikes, and then a third, and Mudville remained joyless from that one loss.

I think The Eagle should win because it actually mean't something. It also had great describing words.

The poem The Eagle means to me that God is watching over us all the time no matter what. Even though in the bible it says that he came as a dove, it doesn't mean he couldn't come as a eagle too. Anything is posible when God is around. I think the poem Casey at the Bat means at the end of sporting events everyone is very loud between the two teams when they are very close. there's a little boy named Casey playing baseball trying to hit the ball. The Empire keeps on saying "strike 1, Strike 2" and the crowd is yelling at him. I liked the poem the Eagle more than Casey at the Bat because even though Casey at the bat was longer, The eagle had stronger worded writing.
