My favorite is "Falling Star". I can connect with it is because I have seen a real falling star. I think its cool to see one because it is a one in a life time chance you would ever see one. I like the writers craft because it is very detailed. It is very well written. One more thing that i like about it is fun to read. Dear Ms. Sikes,
I can connect to “The Falling Star” because it is like something I have seen before. When I saw it I called my parents because I thought that it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to see a star that is disappearing into outer space.
I like the poet’s craft better because I think he put his heart and soul into thinking about the idea of this poem. Also I like how it’s shorter than the other one and a lot of people aren’t afraid of a lot of thing in life.

"The Falling Star"
1. I can connect to the poem because you have to not take advantage of the things you have, enjoy it while you can.
2.I like the poets craft in the poem because it rhymes, and I like rhyming poems.
"Life Doesn't Frighten Me"
1.I can connect to the poem because the character in the poem is not afraid at all because GOD is with him[In the poem the character says a little charm] and he is with you no matter what.
2.I also like how this poem ryhmes because as I said before, I like rhyming poems.

3. My favorite is "life Doesn't Frighten Me" because the meaning of GOD is always with yo is very religious and that the way it is put into a poem is amazing.

"Life Doesn't Frighten Me" is about a person who isn't afraid of anything. I can connect because I'm not scared of many things. I like how the poem flows also. "The Falling Star" is about a shooting star. I can't really connect because I've never a shooting star. I also the flow of this poem too. The champion of Sikes/McGee poetry madness is...
"Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because I'm not really scared of many things.

The poem I liked best was, “Life Doesn’t Frighten Me” (“The Falling Star” no as well). I liked it better because I can make a ton of connections with it. I can’t make as many connections to “The Falling Star”. I also like the story that “Life Doesn’t Frighten Me” tells. I really like the poets craft in the poem. I think the story that “Life doesn’t Frighten Me” tells is, a little girl is lost when she is really little. I think she is frightened because she is so little and doesn’t know what to do (It is pretty scary when you get lost). I think she is in a really BIG city and she doesn’t feel safe. I think she sees a lot of bad people and is afraid that someone might hurt her. A man walks up to her, he stops. She sees his uniform. HE IS A POLICE OFFICER!!!!!! He offered to call her parents and the little girl was back where she belongs. In the end she knew not to be frightened by life. I choose the poem, “Life Doesn’t Frighten Me”.

I feel negative about both of these poems, but I have to go with "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" I like the real life things that make that time period stand out. I also like the rhyme scheme. FYI: My favorite poem has been "Mother to Son" in the whole tournament!

Dear Ms.Sikes,
I pick "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because it sets a good example to older kids, and the older kids can teach it to younger kids. The connection I make with it is my brother and sister set good examples to me.

Dear Ms. Sikes,

I choose the poem "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because I have a connection with it. My connection is that some of the things in there I am not afraid of, like the person in the poem, and there are some things I am afraid of in the poem. I like the poet's craft because of all the word choice in the poem.

"Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because sometimes I can't be strong and courageous as I want to be like the character. The poet's craft I like most about this poem is the repetition because repetition and rhyming go hand and hand.

I chose "The Falling Star" because of the way it rhymes, the writer's craft, and because of how it is worded. I like the way it rhymes because it is exact rhymes. For example, "sky" and "by" those are exact rhymes. I like the writer's craft because they say the falling star is a really magical thing. I like the way it is worded because of one sentence in the poem. It says, "Too burning and too hot to hold, too lovely to be bought or sold." I can relate to it because once I saw something really beautiful too, so it makes sense on how beautiful it is.

I chose "The Falling Star" because I like the way it rhymes, and a like a lot more about this poem than I don't in the other poem. I can connect with this poem because a falling star is kind of like a shooting star, and I like shooting stars because you can wish on them. In the poem it says, "Good only to make wishes on." So you can wish on the star in the poem. I would like "The Falling Star to win.

I like"Life Doesn't Frighten Me" because every one knows that you can't be totally fearless of every thing. I can connect to this poem because it would be really cool to not be afraid of anything, but if you were fearless you would do things that you wouldn't even think of doing otherwise. I also liked how the author said that he's not afraid of anything, but in the end it says,"But don't give me snakes or (these other things) because i'll scream in fright.

I connect with "Life Doesn't frighten Me" because sometimes when I hear noises or shadows in bed, I get a little freaked out.
I like the poets craft in "The Falling Star" when it says, "Too burning and too quick to hold, to lovely to be bought or sold."
So that means I think "The Falling Star" wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can connect to the poem "The Falling Star" because the poem expresses a message without straight out telling you. The message tells you to be thankful for things because you may not always have them.
I like the rhyming in "The Falling Star". It says, sky and by, hold and sold, and on and gone. The rhyming is exact. I like that about this poem.
I could go on and on about "The Falling Star". It is a great poem.
